Lisztomania Love

One of the best songs of last year (if not THE best) was Lisztomania by Phoenix. The song inspired a bunch of fun music videos of people dancing and being really, really happy…starting with a mashup of the John Hughes brat pack, and then spreading to hipsters in Brooklyn and San Francisco. I know these videos are a little bit old now, but they are all awesome and really will lift your spirits.

The Lady and the Reaper: The film that should have won the Oscar for best animated short

At the Oscars last night, “Logorama” won the award for best Animated Short. It was far and away the worst of the five nominees and absolutely did not deserve the award. (You probably saw Logorama when it went viral a few months ago…it was a big thing on the Internets.) Anyway, this is “The Lady and the Reaper,” my favorite in this category and much more deserving than the winner.

As Twitter passes its 10 billionth tweet milestone, here is the Twitter Criterion Collection: “We asked some of our friends to film their favorite tweets. We didn’t care how they did it. They could read it. They could act it. They could do it with puppets. Whatever they wanted. The only rules were it had to be a tweet written by someone else and it had to contain the entire tweet and nothing but the tweet.”

Alice at the Palace

Sad you can’t see a good Alice in Wonderland? Meryl Streep and Mark Lynn Baker (‘Perfect Stranger’s” Cousin Larry) star in this musical from 1981. The Jabberwock stuff in the second one is particularly great.
