The pure ubridled joy of trainspotter Francis Bourgeois emits when he sees a train is just too wholesome and lovely. The only thing better than the camera angle is his personality.

There is a new book called 10 PRINT CHR$(205.5+RND(1)); : GOTO 10 about a famous line of code used during the Commodore 64 era to generate labyrthinthes and mazes for early games. As the webmaster of Pete’s QBasic Site (which I started in 1998), this is pretty cool!
That one line, a seemingly clumsy scrap of BASIC, generates a fascinatingly complicated maze on a Commodore 64. Run the little program on an emulator—or on an actual Commodore 64, if you happen to have one collecting dust in your basement—and a work of art unfolds before your very eyes, as the screen slowly fills up in a mesmerizing fashion.

“Fashion photographer and filmmaker Jacob Sutton swaps the studio for the slopes of Tignes in the Rhône-Alpes region of south-eastern France, with a luminous after hours short starring Artec pro snowboarder William Hughes. The electrifying film sees Hughes light up the snow-covered French hills in a bespoke L.E.D.-enveloped suit courtesy of designer and electronics whizz John Spatcher.”

In 2009, thousands of Internet users were asked to remake “Star Wars: A New Hope” into a fan film, 15 seconds at a time. Contributors were allowed to recreate scenes from Star Wars however they wanted.
Here is the Director’s Cut of the final film, the whole 2 hour feature, edited together to form a surprisingly coherent piece. Amazing. And so, so nerdy.
