Takes a while to get into the skiing… worth the wait. Kicks into it about 2:00
(I’m on an extreme sport video kick..)

“In January 2009 Adam Colton set off with Paul Kent and Aaron Enevoldsen to conquer the Andes with only longboards and backpacks. Mike Hager supplied the video equipment to document themselves skating over 1500 miles through some of the toughest terrain on the planet. This is their first release showing amazing scenery, character, native peruvians, and downhilling with 30lb backpacks!”

A hilarious real-life take on Super Mario Brothers….this reveals what we all suspected, that Mario is really on a mushroom fueled trip which is why all this weird shit keeps going on like talking turtles and magic pipes! It was directed by Joe Nicolosi, an Ithaca College graduate and a few friends of mine were involved, including Steve Quinlan (the guy who plays Koopa) and Justin Talbott, who composed the original music. Funny stuff!

YouTube user TRMUS1C has made a hobby of recutting Seinfeld episodes into serious movie trailers, and they are absolutely brilliant. Enjoy!

Two brilliant mashups of the trailer for “You Got Served” using footage from Fiddler on the Roof and The Wizard of Oz. Awesome. (Thanks Portman.)

Good Fortune, a documentary by my good friend Jeremy Levine and his partner, Landon Van Soest, both alumni of my alma mater Ithaca College, aired last night on POV on PBS. It is a sad and brilliant piece, and from today until October 12, 2010, the film is available to watch for free, in full, on the PBS website. I truly encourage you to watch Jeremy and Landon’s film. Below is the synopsis. The trailer follows.
Good Fortune is a provocative exploration of how massive international efforts to alleviate poverty in Africa may be undermining the very communities they aim to benefit. In Kenyas rural countryside, Jackson’s farm is being flooded by an American investor who hopes to alleviate poverty by creating a multimillion-dollar rice farm. Across the country in Nairobi, Silva’s home and business in Africa’s largest shantytown are being demolished as part of a U.N. slum-upgrading project. The gripping stories of two Kenyans battling to save their homes from large-scale development present a unique opportunity see foreign aid through eyes of the people it is intended to help.

The super popular YouTube clip “Winnebago Man” (where the foul-mouthed and tempermental Jack Rebney continually screws up his lines for a Winnebago infomercial) has been turned into a feature-length documentary! I can’t wait to see this. Yet another case of a YouTube sensation being turned into a much larger piece. Here is the trailer:
Here’s the original video that we all know and love:

“This award-winning documentary illuminates the unlikely pioneers that shaped the way we see pools.” This is a spot-on parody of Dogtown and Z-Boys, the doc about the beginnings of skateboarding. The Birthday Boys are the masters of genre conventions, and did an amazing job with this one!

Robert Rodriguez has something to say about the racist new law in Arizona that has police racial profiling Mexicans. Here’s a special Arizona-themed trailer to his exploitation film, Machete, which we first saw a few years ago as part of Grindhouse.

Somebody took the audio from the Mean Girls trailer and mashed it up with footage of various Disney princesses. Nice.
