Saskatchewan has two things going for it: Silly accents, and it’s fucking cold. Oh wait, I guess that would be just one thing. (Thanks, Jim)

This morning I was reading about the unique evolutionary advantages that humans possess over other animals. While we are not the fastest animals by a longshot, humans are actually the best suited distance runners on the planet. Running on two feet is much more efficient than four. And running on two feet allows us to “slow breathe” — four legged animals must take a breath with every step when running because their diaphragms are connected directly to their spines. The fact that we have sweat glands and skin is also essential, because we are able to keep out bodies cool much more efficiently than animals with fur. Humans are one of the only animals on earth that could handle running a 26 mile marathon.
Anyway, I stumbled upon this amazing David Attenborough video that perfectly demonstrates humans’ evolutionary advantages:

John Maynard Keynes and F. A. Hayek, the two of the great economists of the 20th century, have a battle rap between their two warring theories of economics. Then they they go out for a night on the town and sing about why there’s a “boom and bust” cycle in modern economies and good reason to fear it. Holy crap, this is geeky, but it’s also very educational! Check out the official website for the lyrics or to download an MP3.

According to Marina, the hot Russian chick from Hot For Words, “OK” is the most popular word worldwide, and is pronounced the same in nearly every language. But what is its origin? This video delves into several popular theories of where the word came from, and though it’s super cheesy in typical Hot For Words style, it’s also quite interesting.

“Wally Wallington is not a scientist. But he knows a thing or two about moving rocks.” Watch him stand a 19,000+ lb. stone column up using only stone age technology. Super interesting!

About halfway through this clip, you’ll see how reality TV story lines come together. If you shoot enough stuff, you can tell any story you want.
