I would try to describe this, but I can’t. Just watch. It’s worth it. Think robot chicken, but with random vintage clips from b-movies, old commercials and more.

Robert Rodriguez has something to say about the racist new law in Arizona that has police racial profiling Mexicans. Here’s a special Arizona-themed trailer to his exploitation film, Machete, which we first saw a few years ago as part of Grindhouse.

Nerd rating: 11/10. But this makes me so geekily happy. :) Congrats to the soon-to-be-parents and their soon-to-be-super-geeky-and-socially-ostracized twin kids!

I watched “Alone in the Wilderness” last night, and it was one of the most endearing, heartwarming and folksy documentaries I’ve ever seen. Today, I just can’t stop thinking about it. It tells the story of Dick Proenneke, a 51 year old from Iowa, who moves to the Alaska wilderness in the ’60s and builds a permanent homestead there. He lived there alone for the next 35 years, and recorded film of himself and the nature surrounding him. After his death in 2003, a filmmaker produced three films from his footage and meticulous notes.
I’m not sure if anyone else will find it as interesting or entrancing as me, but here is the first ten minutes of “Alone in the Wilderness.” If you like it, I highly encourage you to watch the rest of this film, as well as the other two films in this series:

As was to be expected, the new BBC nature series “Life” by David Attenborough is absolutely incredible. I’ve been watching this since the beginning, and I’ve gotta say, these are the two single most amazing clips so far:
Pellicans OMG WTF BBQ?!?!?!?!
Darwin’s Beetle, the funniest beetle ever

If you haven’t already heard, YouTube has taken down all of the Downfall of Hitler parody videos, which you’ve probably seen all over the interwebz, including here on Pie Heaven. Honestly, I’m perfectly fine with those videos being gone, because the meme jumped the shark months ago, and I’m sick of the relentless Hitler parodies… but here is one last one for old time’s sake. You see, what the German company that produced the film didn’t realize when they submitted their YouTube DMCA request was that there a zillions of other video hosting websites out there, and within a few hours, this one showed up on VIMEO. Surprise, surprise. The Internet just *loves* making obvious jokes, especially when they make big corporations look silly. (Thanks, Mark!)
