It’s like Rejected Cartoons but with puppets.

One of the most bizarre (and awesome) live performances ever. Pretty nifty psychadelia from our parents’ generation.

Actually, to be honest, this is pretty accurate — at least for the eCommerce sphere of today’s web. I bet they would have not have predicted the rise of social networking, though.

Anyone else remember this? I remember seeing it on TV when I was a sophomore in highschool…pretty nifty. (Also, I couldn’t imagine George W. Bush making a video like this.)

I challenge you to blast this as loud as you possibly can and freak out your coworkers in the other room, ala Kevin McAllister in Home Alone. I mean, if it works on the wet bandits Harry and Marv, it’ll work on anyone!

The American icon Fess Parker, best known for playing Davy Crockett & Daniel Boone, died today at his home near Santa Barbara, California. He was 85. This is a heartfelt tribute to a brilliant human being.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I thought it appropriate to honor the internet’s most (in)famous Lepruchaun, the one who resides in Mobile, Alabama. May the luck of the Irish be with you.

My latest song addiction is the 1947 Tex Williams hit, “Smoke, Smoke, Smoke (That Cigarette)”…I have been listening to this on loop all day. It’s so damn catchy! This is an anti-smoking song, but it’s not because they’re unhealthy (“I don’t reckon’ that they hinder your health”), it’s because smoking takes a long time and makes other people wait. But after listening to this chorus about a zillion times, holy crap, all I want to do is start smoking cigarettes!!
There are two performances here…the first one is one of the originals from the ’40s, but it’s a bit out of sync. The other one features an older Tex Williams a few decades later…but he’s still got it.

One of the latest viral sensations is the known as “Trololo guy,” which I posted here on Pie Heaven a few weeks ago. Well, someone tracked down the Soviet singer 44 years later…his name is Eduard Khil and this was his signature song, and apparently a big hit in the USSR back in the ’60s.
The song’s translated title is “I’m very glad, because I’m going back home” and, according to Khil, is “in fact about an American who returns home through the prairies, and his beloved Mary waits for him at home and knits a woolen sock for him.”

Sad you can’t see a good Alice in Wonderland? Meryl Streep and Mark Lynn Baker (‘Perfect Stranger’s” Cousin Larry) star in this musical from 1981. The Jabberwock stuff in the second one is particularly great.

Forget Tim Burton’s version…this adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland” was made over 100 years ago, when Walt Disney was still in his diapers. The very first film version of Alice in Wonderland was made in 1903, and only one (damaged) print of the early film remains. With a running time of just 12 minutes (8 of which survive), Alice in Wonderland was the longest film produced in England at that time. Film archivists have managed to restore the film to a watchable version for the first time in over 100 years.
