According to Marina, the hot Russian chick from Hot For Words, “OK” is the most popular word worldwide, and is pronounced the same in nearly every language. But what is its origin? This video delves into several popular theories of where the word came from, and though it’s super cheesy in typical Hot For Words style, it’s also quite interesting.

How much of your conscious decisions do you actually control? Or is your brain just chemically reacting to environmental stimuli, and all of your “thoughts” and “decisions” are just part of nature’s grand domino effect?
In this clip, Marcus Du Sautoy (Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford) participates in an experiment conducted by John-Dylan Haynes (Professor at the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Berlin) that attempts to find the neurological basis for decision making. The results are really quite shocking.

Time-lapse of Flight 1549 being exhumed from the Hudson

After US Airways flight 1549 emergency landed in New York’s Hudson River last January, and all 155 passengers were rescued. But even more amazingly, they rescued the plane itself….it just took a really, really long time to get such a gigantic hunk of metal out of the river.
