A bit about why Waterboarding is the most humane form of torture (an oxymoron I know): There is no permanent damage done but the response is immediate. A much more humane and effective way to obtain critical intelligence quickly without brutalizing the prisoner. Sure beats electrocution, ripping off finger nails, acid showers, whippings/beatings, cutting off limbs, removing eyes & tongues, drilling out teeth, dislocating shoulders, burning, and other ways the Muslims use.
Playboy. Com journalist Mike Guy underwent waterboarding by a trained member of the U.S. military in the site’s new Lab Rat feature. Guy bet that he could endure 15 seconds of the interrogation technique used by the Bush administration on al Qaeda chief Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Abu Zubaydah. See how he does…
(Note: this video is not something I would describe as graphic in anyway if you have qualms about watching someone get water boarded). Though to be fair I’m sure they’re not this cordial with real prisoners.

Some people think this is a cute example of an animal raising its young, others think it is creepy as shit. I fall into the latter category.

Mars rovers “Spirit” and “Opportunity” were successful beyond NASA’s wildest dreams. Now they’re building a new, nuclear-powered Mini Cooper-sized rover to be lowered onto Mars by a hovering drop ship in 2013. Meet “Curiosity,” the new Mars Science Laboratory. Really interesting video showing how the new rover will work.

This morning I was reading about the unique evolutionary advantages that humans possess over other animals. While we are not the fastest animals by a longshot, humans are actually the best suited distance runners on the planet. Running on two feet is much more efficient than four. And running on two feet allows us to “slow breathe” — four legged animals must take a breath with every step when running because their diaphragms are connected directly to their spines. The fact that we have sweat glands and skin is also essential, because we are able to keep out bodies cool much more efficiently than animals with fur. Humans are one of the only animals on earth that could handle running a 26 mile marathon.
Anyway, I stumbled upon this amazing David Attenborough video that perfectly demonstrates humans’ evolutionary advantages:
