“This fascinating 20-minute video [well, let’s say audio documentary, since there’s hardly any visuals to it] narrates the history of the “Amen Break,” a six-second drum sample from the b-side of a chart-topping single from 1969. This sample was used extensively in early hiphop and sample-based music, and became the basis for drum-and-bass and jungle music — a six-second clip that spawned several entire subcultures. Nate Harrison’s 2004 video is a meditation on the ownership of culture, the nature of art and creativity, and the history of a remarkable music clip.”

Researchers at the Arctic research center in Toolik Lake, Alaska perform the Thriller dance in the land of the midnight sun. The reason I’m posting this is not because it is a great dance, but because of LOOK AT THOSE FUCKING MOSQUITOS!!! HOLY CRAP!!! All of them are wrapped head to toe to keep from getting bitten. Yeesh. Am I glad I don’t have to live there.

Onboard cameras capture the amazing journey of Atlantis into space, and the dramatic return of the solid rocket boosters. Really amazing, especially starting about halfway through when the booster rockets fall off and fall back to splash into the ocean.

Inspired by Garfield Minus Garfield, some guy went through all 1337 frames of the Simpsons opening…and removed the Simpsons. Pretty sweet:

Was trying video on my new iPhone 3G S at the pool and dropped it in the pool. Don’t know if it’s waterproof, but it still works fine. I had a few people comment on seeing a strap in the video. I have a rubber cover and had put a strap through the earpiece hole to avoid just this type of thing. I didn’t have it on my wrist at the time, but believe me, I will from now on!!!! Maybe the rubber cover helped with it not getting damaged.

I definitely question whether these are staged, but this sequel to the first World of Warcraft freakout video is just as ridiculous. That kid is fucked, and his younger brother is a huge asshole. (Thanks Beth)
