This is so damn it is it catchy! And I can only assume that the Finnish do all day long, every day. Here it is: Loituma – “Ievan Polkka” (Eva’s Polka).

This guy, who calls himself “BENO,” has made dozens of videos documenting his rides up and down elevators (“lifts” ’cause he’s British). He also made a brilliant animation (the first video) about one fateful lift ride, which you MUST watch to the very end. I’m not sure who this guy is, but I love his fantastic blog and his collection of photos of mundane objects like traffic lights and telephone poles. He’s some kind of mad genius, with the best accent of all time.

The catch phrase “throw [someone] under the bus” has EXPLODED over the past few years due to Reality TV. It’s synonymous with “backstabbing” a trusted friend / teammate, when you yourself are under threat. Here’s a compilation of all the times the phrase was used in the latest season of The Celebrity Apprentice, but I guarantee you that you could make a similar compilation of clips from any other season of a competition-based Reality TV show from the past few years.
Even more interestingly, I’ve found a few sources that originally attribute the phrase to Cyndi Lauper, way back in 1984. Considering that Cyndi was on this season of the Celebrity Apprentice, the whole thing has come full circle!

This Belgian man has spent his entire life playing with marbles…and now spends 8 hours a day playing with them on a special track in his home. I’d say it was adorable, but that’s not the vibe I get. More weird and creepy than anything.

Shot from a streetcar traveling down Market Street in San Francisco in 1905, before the earthquake/fire of 1906 destroyed the area. Remarkable footage of the turn of the century lifestyles.
