snaz says:
this only lends further support to the undeniable fact that dogs are DUMB.
My dog does the first part, the twitching, and a little barking in his sleep. It’s adorable. We say he’s “chasing rabbits”.
I would totally be horrified if my dog jumped up in his sleep though. That seemed really scary for the dog :(

You should have your dog checked out. I had a dog that did something similar when she was having seizures from epilepsy.
ekm says:
I’m no dog owner or scientist but in my brain and behavior class they teach that there is a part of the brain that keeps you from acting out your dreams, when something happens to this part of the brain it causes you to actually do the actions, which is dangerous to yourself and others. (Obviously–as we all just watched a dog run head first into a wall.) You should definitely get your dog checked out, this is serious.
This is why I became a Vet many trips around the sun ago. The same thing happend to me during my blue period. Many of my sleep-mates noted this. But, none were lucky enough to video capture it…. :(
That’s his tucked up tail, stuble. And “Stumble” has an “m” in the middle. Now I’ve got to go and hit my little green and blue button and see what other magic appears on the shiny screen…..
sandy says:
take that dog to a vet ….he’s in trouble…
Phaedron says:
Don’t worry about it at all. Except for the running into the wall. The new theory of the brain is that we’re born to sleep, that the brain is re-energised by sleep and sleep is its natural state. it gets used for a while then goes back to normal, asleep. The theory therefore says that your pup has an excellent brain. Things are really happening and it’s healthy. Wow, go those neurons!
dj says:
ekm, I think this is a bit different. It seems to me that the dog wakes up just before it runs into the wall. He just has not yet made the connection that he was dreaming.
Kind of like when you are dreaming that you are falling and you wake up suddenly and push yourself up or jump.
ted says:
this dog looks like it’s suffering from a seizure.
ted says:
….folks that think this is funny are kinda ‘dumb’
carol says:
My dog does this (up until the slamming into the wall). It’s a normal part of their development. I would take him to the vet just because he hit the wall so hard…that’s all.
Wendy says:
This dog is having seizures, someone should turn them into the Humane Society for abuse, he needs to be on meds soon before he dies… in one of these “funny” videos they seem to be enjoying so much.

Uh.. that shouldn’t happen. Your dog needs to see a vet. While it’s funny for us, it’s a serious problem for the dog.
Digg says:
HAI REDDIT
fdas says:
I concur, but a vet won’t help.
Your dog needs to have bi-weekly therapy sessions with a dog whisperer until the root cause of his nightmares can be found.
