Western Australia NDIS Bilateral Agreement: What You Need to Know
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government-funded program designed to support Australians living with disabilities. The NDIS provides funding for individuals to access services and support that will assist them in their daily lives and help them achieve their goals.
In 2018, a bilateral agreement was signed between the Australian Government and the Western Australian Government to bring the NDIS to Western Australia. This agreement outlines the responsibilities and funding arrangements for the delivery of the NDIS in Western Australia.
Under the agreement, the Western Australian Government will take on responsibility for delivering the NDIS in the state. This means that the state government will be responsible for assessing eligibility for the program, developing individualised plans for participants, and determining the funding required to support those plans.
The agreement also outlines the funding arrangements for the NDIS in Western Australia. The Australian Government will provide funding to the state government to deliver the program, and the state government will contribute a portion of the funding required.
