Mr. Rogers has got to be the most genuine, caring and compassionate person in the history of television. I grew up on Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, (as did just about every American kid born in the last 40 years), and it was such an important part of my childhood. Today, I stumbled across this clip of Fred Rogers defending PBS to the U.S. Senate in 1969. It’s absolutely touching.
Thirty years later, here is Mr. Rogers saying good-bye on one of the final episodes of Neighborhood. What an amazing man. I wish I had even one ounce of Mr. Rogers’ character.
